Welcome to Saint Catherine of Siena School! We are the Home and School Association (HASA).
We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization made
up of parent volunteers that partner with the school to bring enriching activities to the students. HASA runs various
fund raising activities and collects yearly dues which fund these programs. Families can pay in advance before school
lets out for summer or when returning to school in September at the Meet the Teacher Nights.
Effective Sept 2009, dues can be paid online or in check, no cash please. The monies generated from dues, fund raising
and school store fund the enrichment, field trips, social events, and other programs/events during the
year. Upon payment of dues, families receive a complementary SCS Family Directory.
As part of our going green initiative, all notifications from HASA are sent via
email to families. You may also find these notifications posted on the website (www.scshasa.com) under Bulletin Board. Please be sure we have your email address!
In
addition to the field trips and enrichment programs, we offer a number of yearly social events. Please visit the Events Calendar page often for the
latest schedule. The following is a brief list of yearly events we sponsor.
Meet the Teacher Night: Third Thursday in September. This is an opportunity for parents/guardians to meet their child(ren)’s
teacher. Yearly dues are collected if not paid prior and directories are distributed (if they are ready). Families
that paid the HASA dues (either online or in person) receive their complimentary family directory. The family directory lists
students name by classroom and by family for that school year (many find the directory helpful when planning play dates and/or birthday parties and for homework contacts).
Halloween Party: Last Saturday in October before
Halloween for students in grade preK-5. It typically is held in the Cafeteria from 6-8pm. There are many events for
all children including a costume parade. Families are encouraged to dress up. Small entrance fee is usually asked at the door.
Christmas Party: Held on a Saturday in December. There are many fun
activities for all the students (raffles, games, etc). The Christmas Party always ends with a birthday cake for Baby Jesus.
Donations of food for the Norwood Food Pantry are typically requested for entrance.
Family
Breakfast: Kicks off Catholic School week. Typically last Sunday in January after the 10:00 AM mass.
Teacher Appreciation Luncheon: The end of Catholic School week on Friday. HASA sponsors
a luncheon for the teachers.
There are three fund raising events that HASA sponsors that parents can get their volunteer
hours.
Yard Sale: Held in the fall
Craft Fair: Held in the fall
Road Race: Held in the spring
HASA appreciates all the families’ involvement throughout the year. Whether you take
on a lead role, volunteer to assist at an event or just attend an event, it is the collective efforts of all, who have, and
continue to make us able to provide the students of Saint Catherine’s the enrichment and social programs.
