Myth Masters

On Tuesday, March 2nd grades 3rd to 8th had the opportunity to see MythMasters.  Anthony Cascio and Lindsay Flathers, of the Mythmasters, blow the dust off centuries of stories from ancient Greece, bringing the power, majesty, and magic of Mount Olympus to life. Myths explored included Phaeton and Helios, Orpheus and Eurydice, and Echo and Narcissus. Through a skillful blend of theatrical techniques (mime, comedy, drama, puppets, masks, costumes, music, reverence, irreverence, and lots of audience participation), the gods and goddesses, heroes and villains, monsters and maidens of Greek mythology come alive to walk the earth once more. Created by David Zucker and Richard McElvainGrant

Saint Catherine’s would like to take this opportunity to thank the Local Cultural Councils in association with the Massachusetts Cultural Council and specifically the Norwood Cultural Council who have issued a grant for this enrichment program which greatly assisted us in securing this program.

This program was booked through Young Audiences of Massachusetts, a leading source edge source for arts education programs in the Commonwealth. For more information please on the Young Audiences of Massachusetts please visit www.yamass.org

The Wonderful World of Bubbles

The Pre-K, Kindergarten, First Grade and Second Grade classes had the opportunity to see “The Secret World of Bubbles”. This 50 minute program gave the children the opportunity to see a blend of outrageous bubble effects and seriously-fun bubble experiments. From huge wobbly bubbles (bigger than your bathtub) dancing in the air to smaller intricate bubble sculptures that eventually fall up to the ceiling this program showed the children exciting new ways to  explore and appreciate something we see everyday but perhaps never truly noticed.
